A Compilation of Thoughts
No child ever imagines themselves being put in a grown man’s place with only the grimy walls of a prison cell to love them for the next forty years. But for one young teen, the nightmare of the cell became his bitter reality.
In A Compilation of Thoughts, author Kurtis Graves details his harrowing journey from carefree 16-year-old boy to indefinite imprisonment as a convicted adult. Suddenly abandoned in the unforgiving, unrelenting and unloving confinement of a world he was never intended to be a part of, Kurtis intricately breaks down the simple conversations he had with his conscience to understand and overcome his burdens, while helping others facing bleak circumstances find their way out, too.
A Compilation of Thoughts is a true portrait of faith, encouraging readers that although staying true to ourselves is difficult, it’s not impossible. We don’t have to conform to what pushes us to lose; we must be motivated to win!

As he therapeutically unveils the anxiety hidden beneath the darkness of depression, just when hope seems like a fleeting dream…healing takes place. Not just for readers, but the smooth flow and rhythmic musings deliver the author himself from his painful past. Not only will readers see themselves in the verses, they’ll be inspired to re-evaluate their worth.
Between the pages of Opened Doors masterfully lies an unfiltered plethora of candid testimonies that move readers from the pained contentment of despair, to the inspiring revelation that they are indeed worthy of happiness that is promised to all of us. A poem is but a few words, but the effect of their power remains for generations. Open the door, and take the first step to creative healing.
Fresh Courage to Believe
Fresh courage to believe is a note of encouragement…to those short on hope, struggling to see beyond a painful past or difficult circumstance, or in need of a renewed vision for their lives…those who have fearlessly summoned the courage and strength to take bold steps in the direction of their destiny, despite looming uncertainty…creatives waiting patiently to receive that second wind that will breathe new life through artistic inspiration…anyone trying to find their footing as they transition to a new phase of life, or someone just having a bad day. In one way or another, each piece seeks to remind readers how their unique experiences can serve to strengthen their resolve; how those experiences collectively represent the sum total of their life’s journey, reflecting key elements of God’s ultimate plan for their lives.
